Toyota halts operations at 6 plants after explosion at parts supplier

Tokyo, Oct 17 (EFE).- Japanese vehicle manufacturer Toyota Motor has suspended operations on 10 production lines at six plants in the country, unable to obtain parts after an explosion at one of its parts suppliers, the firm confirmed to EFE Tuesday.
The suspension occurred on Monday following an explosion at a Chuo Sping factory in the Japanese prefecture of Aichi, as confirmed Tuesday by Toyota, which will return to assess the situation on Wednesday.
Chuo Sping, which is located within Toyota City, produces automobile springs and would have been unable to provide them to Toyota following the incident, which left two employees with serious injuries. The cause is still under investigation.
In August, Toyota, also based in Aichi, had to temporarily suspend operations at all its plants due to a computer failure, while in March, the company experienced a cyber attack that forced it to stop production at all their domestic factories. EFE
