Woman killed in Russian shelling of residential Kherson, Ukraine says

Kyiv, Aug 7 (EFE).- A woman was killed and several other civilians injured early Monday as Russian forces attacked the southern Ukraine city of Kherson, a Ukrainian official reported.

“A difficult night for Kherson… the Russian army continued to shell Kherson residents’ homes in the central part of the city,” Kherson Regional Military Administration head Oleksandr Prokudin wrote on Telegram.

The shelling started just before 1 am and continued for several hours, he reported, adding that several people were injured, including a person with reduced mobility and a 93-year-old woman.

Throughout Sunday, he said, Russia launched some 30 bombardment in the region, in which four civilians were injured.

Kherson remains a priority target of Russian attacks after Ukrainian troops managed to regain control of part of the city and the surrounding region in November and after months of occupation by the enemy.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces attacked 10 targets in the Russian-occupied area throughout Sunday, sources from the Army’s General Staff reported. EFE
