Trump to return to New York first time after leaving White House

New York, Mar 6 (efe-epa).- Former United States President Donald Trump is returning to New York on Sunday for the first time since he left the White House in January.

Trump will fly down from Florida and stay in the Big Apple, the city of his birth and where he has much of his business, until Tuesday, according to Daily News.

WABC TV network said the New York Police Department (NYPD) has prepared to provide additional security around Trump Tower, the Manhattan building owned by the tycoon where he maintains his palatial residence.

The extra security measures to be taken during his visit include using barricades and parking restrictions.

During his presidency, Trump officially moved his residence to Florida.

Since he left the White House after losing the presidential election to President Joe Biden, he has lived in the southern state, specifically in Mar-a-Lago, his Palm Beach club.

The Republican returns to the Big Apple when several New York prosecutors are investigating his business for possible fraud crimes.

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance got access to Trump’s eight years of tax return records and other documents in late February after the Supreme Court cleared the way to release the files.

Trump had fought for a year to keep his records out of the hands of Vance.

Prosecutor Vance’s is probably the most extensive investigation and the biggest legal concern for Trump.

The former president is also facing a civil investigation by New York State Attorney General Letitia James into the possibility that he may have inflated the value of his assets when it suited him and devalued them in statements to the government to avoid taxes for fiscal benefits.

Trump has said that the investigations in New York, a state dominated politically by the Democrats, were part of a “witch hunt” against him. EFE-EPA
