Turkey’s Erdogan urges Putin for immediate ceasefire in Ukraine

Ankara, Mar 6 (EFE).- Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan Sunday called for an “immediate ceasefire” in Ukraine in a phone call with Russian president Vladimir Putin, Erdogan’s office reported.

“Let’s pave the way for peace together,” Erdogan told Putin in a one-hour long phone call, referring to the humanitarian crisis that is unfolding in Ukraine since Russian troops launched a full-scale invasion 11 days ago.

Putin said the “special military operation” in Ukraine would end only when Moscow’s demands are met and that he was open to dialogue.

Russia claims the invasion of Ukraine is to “denazify” the country and that the operation is going according to plan. EFE
