‘Turkish Messi’ Güler: I want to be Real Madrid legend

Madrid, Jul 7 (EFE).- Real Madrid’s latest signing Arda Güler said he wants to become a legend for the club, after the Turkish youngster passed his medical examination on Friday.

“I want to thank my family and all the people who have made it possible for me to get here. I want to be a Real Madrid legend,” said Güler, who has been dubbed the “Turkish Messi”.

The 18-year-old, who will wear the number 24 jersey, insisted he has no intention of being sent out on loan, and wants to stay at the Bernabeu to fight for a starting place.

“Many clubs were interested, but I preferred Real Madrid and that’s it. I don’t want to go play on another team. Being loaned is not in my plans. They offered me the chance to come and play here, and that’s what I want,” he said.

Güler is manager Carlo Ancelotti’s sixth new player so far this summer, after Jude Bellingham, Fran Garcia, Brahim Diaz, Antonio Blanco and Joselu. EFE
