Barcelona keep pace with Real Madrid in LaLiga

Madrid, Oct 29 (EFE).- Barcelona and Valencia were knotted 0-0 Saturday heading into stoppage time at the Metsalla, but Robert Lewandowski secured all 3 points for the Blaugrana with his 13th goal of the campaign.

Days after crashing out of the Champions League in the group stage for the second year running, the Catalan club went first in LaLiga by virtue of better goal difference than defending champions Real Madrid, who can reclaim the top spot with a win Sunday against 19th-place Girona.

The Polish striker, who has also contributed four assists since coming over to Barcelona from Bayern Munich, is making a habit of getting the team over the line on occasions when they are less than their best.

For Atletico Madrid, likewise eliminated from the Champions League at midweek, a game against third-from-bottom Cadiz seemed to offer an opportunity for redemption.

Instead, the Colchoneros conceded inside the first minute of play and found themselves trailing 2-0 with less than 10 minutes left in regulation.

Late sub Joao Felix scored twice in four minutes to bring Atleti level, but Ruben Sobrino produced a winner for Cadiz deep into stoppage time.

The result leaves third-place Atletico with 23 points, 8 behind Barcelona and Real Madrid and just a point better than Real Sociedad, who will host Real Betis on Sunday. EFE apa/dr
