Two local infections among 23 new Covid-19 cases in China

Shanghai, China, Dec 21 (efe-epa).- China on Monday said health officials have found two local infections among the 23 new coronavirus cases in the country.

The two local cases were registered by health officials in Liaoning and Heilongjiang provinces in northeastern China.

The 22 imported cases, recorded since Sunday morning, are from Shanghai, Inner Mongolia, Guangzhou, Fujian, Shanxi, and Sichuan.

Moreover, with the addition of 15 asymptomatic cases detected on Monday, the total of people with similar conditions under observation remains 208, of which 182 are travelers.

Chinese authorities do not count asymptomatic cases in their statistics of the confirmed cases.

The health authorities said until last midnight, 14 patients were discharged after successfully overcoming Covid-19.

Thus, the total number of active infected in mainland China stands at 318, of which four are serious.

The National Health Commission did not announce new deaths from Covid-19. The figure remains 4,634, which has not unchanged since mid-May).

To date, 891,801 close contacts with infected people have been followed up by the authorities, of which 6,927 remain under observation. EFE-EPA
