Two pilots found alive hours after Ecuador plane crash

Quito, Dec 24 (EFE).- Searchers rescued the two pilots of the Cessna plane Friday, hours after the aircraft crashed in Ecuador’s Amazon region.

The army said the pilots were saved due to “a timely and affective rescue operation.”

An army statement said it shifted the rescued crew members to the armed forces hospital in the capital Quito.

The army did not give more details about the pilots.

It also did not elaborate on any possible cause of the crash of the Cessna 206 plane, with registration AEE179.

The aircraft took off at approximately 08:45 local time (13:45 GMT) for Lorocachi in the province of Pastaza.

The military said that the plane’s mission was to bring supplies to Lorocachi, but “it did not arrive at its destination,” scheduled for 09.45 am, triggering a search and rescue operation.

The rescuers, aided with two military helicopters, found the aircraft debris nine miles from the Lorocachi parish. EFE
