UEFA opens probe into Ibrahimovic’s alleged links to betting company

Madrid, Apr 26 (EFE).- UEFA on Monday announced it has launched an investigation into allegations that AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has financial links to a betting company.
“A UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector has today been appointed to conduct a disciplinary investigation regarding a potential violation of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations by Mr. Zlatan Ibrahimovic for having an alleged financial interest in a betting company,” European soccer’s governing body said in a statement.
The move comes after Swedish media reported that Ibrahimovic violated FIFA and UEFA regulations when he used one of his firms to become a shareholder in a Malta-based betting company.
If he is found guilty, the veteran player could face a fine and up to a three-year ban.
The 39-year-old Ibrahimovic’s contract with AC Milan has been extended until 30 June 2022, the club announced last Thursday. EFE
