Uefa orders partial closure of Atletico stadium for City clash

Madrid, Apr 11 (EFE).- Uefa on Monday ordered the partial closure of Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano stadium for the team’s upcoming Champions League tie against Manchester City after incidents in the crowd during the first-leg at the Etihad last week.

Several traveling fans were filmed giving fascist salutes in the crowd during Atletico’s 1-0 defeat in the first-leg of the quarter-final.

Uefa’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body opened proceedings against the LaLiga last week for incidents relating to discriminatory behaviour and throwing objects.

The body on Monday ordered the closure of 5,000 of the roughly 64,500 seats at the club’s modern stadium for Wednesday’s fixture against Man. City.

Atletico Madrid will also have to display a #NoToRacism banner at the game, a statement from UEFA said. EFE
