Powerful people deserve to be laughed at: Daniel Craig

Madrid, Oct 19 (EFE).- After fifteen years in the skin of James Bond, British actor Daniel Craig seems to have found a new vein in the character of detective Benoit Blanc in the mystery movie series Knives Out.

The latest installment, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which comes three years after the first Knives Out, takes the social satire and critical stance on power a little further in a combined comedy and mystery title.

Craig sat down with Efe for an interview in Madrid where he is promoting the new sequel by American filmmaker Rian Johnson.

“There are a lot of people out there to laugh at right now, and that is what we are doing (…) and they deserve to be laughed at so it’s fine,” he said.

“I was very very keen because of the fun and the joy we had at the last one,” the British actor added.

When asked how he felt about being “trapped” in another franchise like James Bond, Craig sarcastically responded: “trapped inside another successful franchise, why would I want that?”

“I am so fortunate and so happy to have done the work I have done over the past 20 years with Bond and I am so proud of it and to have this chance to work with Rian Johnson, who I love,” he added.

Produced by Netflix, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will hit the streaming platform in December.

“The movie is a piece of entertainment, that is what it is, (…) it’s a ride, just enjoy it,” Craig said.
