Ukraine says war has already killed nearly 350 children

Kyiv, July 1 (EFE).- The Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office reports that around 350 children have been killed since Russia invaded Ukraine in February.

Additionally, according to a report from the prosecutor’s office, 635 children have suffered injuries of varying severity throughout the months of the devastating war, the Ukrinform news agency said.

“More than 978 children have been affected in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale armed aggression by the Russian Federation. According to the official information provided by juvenile prosecutors, 343 children have been killed and more than 635 have been injured,” the report said.

The majority of the casualties (339) occurred in the eastern Donetsk area, which was followed by Kharkiv (185), Kyiv (116), Chernihiv (68), and Luhansk (61), Mykolaiv (53), Kherson (52), and Zaporizhzhia (31).

Additionally, 2,102 educational institutions in Ukraine were damaged by Russia’s daily air and artillery attacks. Some 215 of which have been destroyed.

The news agency noted that at least 4,731 civilians have been killed since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on Feb 24.

The real numbers might be much higher because it is impossible to calculate them as the war rages. EFE
