Kim oversees military exercises alongside daughter

Seoul, Mar 16 (EFE).- North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, accompanied by his daughter, supervised war games by the country’s paratroopers, state media reported on Saturday.

Emphasizing the need for the military to remain in a state of readiness, Kim stressed the primary duty of the army “to make full preparations for war,” the Korean Central News Agency said.

“He (Kim) underlined the need for all the service personnel to firmly arm themselves with the strong will to fight the enemy and thoroughgoing outlook on war,” the news agency said.

These exercises may be a response to the recent annual military maneuvers by South Korea and the US, which concluded on Thursday after 11 days. The objective of these joint war drills was to bolster military and deterrent capabilities against the threat posed by North Korea.

In images shared by the North Korean news agency, Kim is seen with his daughter, both clad in leather coats – black for the father and brown for the girl.

Although the age and name of Kim’s daughter have not been revealed, it is believed that she could be named Kim Ju-ae.

The girl is seen overseeing the maneuvers with binoculars, signaling the prominent role that the North Korean leader wishes to assign to his daughter.

She made her first appearance in state media on Nov 19, 2022, accompanying her father to witness the testing of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

In her initial public appearance, she was dressed in a white coat, listening to her father as he instructed officials around.

Subsequent images depicted her walking hand in hand with him next to the projectile shuttle.

North Korean media seldom disclose information about the close relatives of the Kim dynasty that has ruled the country with an iron fist since the 1940s.

South Korean intelligence experts believe Kim may have had three children with Ri Sol-Ju around 2010, 2013, and 2017.

Following one of his extravagant visits to North Korea to meet with Kim Jong-un, former American basketball player Dennis Rodman publicly mentioned in 2013 that he had “held his daughter Ju-ae,” who was a baby at the time. EFE
