Ukrainian climber aims to plant flag on Everest in Russian invasion protest

Kathmandu, Apr 13 (EFE).- Ukrainian climber Antonina Samoilova plans to scale Mount Everest and plant a Ukraine flag on its summit in a message of solidarity for her country amid the Russian invasion.

Samoilova has arrived in Nepal ahead of her attempt at the world’s highest mountain, located in the Himalayas.

“The main reason for me to go there and take the Ukrainian flag with me is to make a call to governments and other countries to help us,” she told Epa-Efe as she prepared for her trip.

“Ukraine is fighting and it will be fighting until we win,” she added. EFE
