UK’s Prince Philip leaves hospital after recovering from heart surgery

London, Mar 16 (efe-epa).- The United Kingdom’s Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, left hospital on Tuesday after recovering from heart surgery.

The Duke of Edinburgh was hospitalized one month ago after he reported feeling unwell.

The 99-year-old left the King Edward VII’s hospital in London on Tuesday morning, an Efe correspondent confirmed.

Philip was admitted to the private King Edward VII’s hospital on 16 February but was later transferred to St. Bartholomew’s hospital, also in London, to undergo surgery on a pre-existing heart condition.

He returned to the King Edward VII’s hospital on March 5 following the “successful” procedure, Buckingham Palace confirmed.

The Duke is due to turn 100 in June.

He has undergone several medical procedures in recent years. In 2011, he had emergency heart surgery to unblock one of his arteries.
