Biden unhurt after fall from bicycle

Washington, Jun 18 (EFE).- United States President Joe Biden said he was fine after falling while climbing off his bicycle Saturday at the end of a ride near his home in Delaware.

“I’m good,” the 79-year-old Biden said upon getting back to his feet with assistance from Secret Service agents, explaining that his foot got caught in the toe cages.

The mishap occurred as the president and first lady Jill Biden were coming to the end of a bike trail at a state park in Rehoboth Beach.

Spotting a group of supporters gathered nearby, Biden veered off the trail and rode over to them, but tumbled as he got off the bike.

Once upright again, the president spent a few minutes chatting with the onlookers.

The White House subsequently confirmed that Biden suffered no injuries in the fall.

“As the President said, his foot got caught on the pedal while dismounting and he is fine. No medical attention is needed. The President looks forward to spending the rest of the day with his family,” an official said in a statement.

The Bidens are spending the Juneteenth holiday weekend at their residence in Rehoboth Beach, a town on Delaware’s Atlantic coast.

Set to turn 80 in November, Joe Biden is the oldest president in US history. EFE
