UK’s Prince Philip moved back to King Edward VII hospital after surgery

London, Mar 5 (efe-epa).- The United Kingdom’s Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, has been transferred to the private King Edward VII hospital in London after successful surgery for a pre-existing heart condition, Buckingham Palace said Friday.

The 99-year-old Duke of Edinburgh was first admitted to the King Edward VII hospital in London on 16 February when he reported feeling unwell. He was later moved to St. Bartholomew’s hospital, where he had surgery on Wednesday.

“Following the Duke of Edinburgh’s successful procedure at St Bartholomew’s hospital on Wednesday, His Royal Highness has been transferred to King Edward VII’s hospital this morning. The duke is expected to remain in hospital for continuing treatment for a number of days,” the Palace said in a statement.

The Duke has undergone several medical procedures in recent years. In 2011, he had emergency heart surgery to unblock one of his arteries.

Camilla Parker-Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall and wife of Prince Charles, the first in line to the British throne, on Wednesday told the press during a visit to a London vaccine center that her father-in-law was “slightly improving” and that the family was keeping its “fingers crossed.”
