The Orpheum Theatre Announces Its 2019-2020 Broadway Season

MEMPHIS, TN (LPL) — El Teatro Orpheum de Memphis anunció el lunes, 25 de febrero, su temporada de Broadway 2019-2020, una que, al igual que las anteriores, promete ser inolvidable.
“La temporada 2019-2020 está llena de producciones excelentes, la mayoría de las cuales no han venido aún a Memphis. La nueva temporada incluye éxitos contemporáneos, un renacimiento clásico y la primera producción no musical de Broadway que se estará presentando en el Orpheum desde el 2014”, dijo Brett Batterson, presidente y director ejecutivo del Orpheum Theatre Group. “Después de un año histórico que rompió el récord, nos complace presentar esta increíble temporada a nuestro público”.

“DEAR EVAN HANSEN”- Del 8 al 13 de octubre de 2019
Una carta que nunca debió ser vista, una mentira que nunca debió ser contada, una vida que él nunca soñó que podría tener. Evan Hansen está a punto de obtener lo que siempre ha deseado: la oportunidad de encajar (en la sociedad). “Dear Evan Hansen” es un musical profundamente personal y contemporáneo que trata sobre la vida y la forma en que vivimos. “The Book of Mormon” cuenta la historia de dos jóvenes misioneros mormones que van a predicar la palabra de Dios a una región peligrosa de Uganda. El show satiriza de manera gentil la religión organizada y los musicales teatrales como género tradicional. Dirigido por Jerry Zaks, el musical de “Hello, Dolly!” está basado en una obra de un acto titulada “The Merchant of Yonkers” de Thornton Wilder, que él revisó en 1955 y renombró como “The Matchmaker”. Es el éxito universalmente aclamado que NPR denomina como “¡el mejor espectáculo del año!”. Esta obra de Zaks ha ganado cuatro premios Tony, incluyendo uno como el Mejor Renacimiento Musical.
“ROALD DAHL’S CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY” – Del 14 al 19 de enero del 2020

“The 2019-2020 season is full of terrific productions, most of which have not previously visited Memphis. The season includes contemporary hits, a classic revival, and the first non-musical Broadway production to be presented at the Orpheum since 2014,” said Brett Batterson, President & CEO of the Orpheum Theatre Group. “Following a historic record-breaking year, we are excited to present this incredible season to our patrons.”
