Madrid Desk, Jan 21 (EFE).- American rock singer and actor Marvin Lee Aday, better known as Meat Loaf, has died at the age of 74, his family confirmed on Friday.

“Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight with his wife Deborah by his side,” the Dallas-born singer’s family said on Facebook.

Born in Texas in 1947, Meat Loaf’s album Bat Out of Hell became one of the ten best-selling albums in history.

He went on to sell more than 100 million albums worldwide and acted in over 65 movies, including Fight Club, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Focus.

“We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man,” his family added.
