Man Rescued from Grain Bin

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, AR (KAIT) — Fire officials say a man trapped in a grain bin Tuesday morning has been rescued and is “awake and talking.”

Osceola Fire Chief Peter Hill said the incident happened around 9 a.m. on Highway 140 near Etowah in Mississippi County.

Just before 12:30 p.m., Captain Ray Williams said the man, who did not identify, had been rescued.

“He’s awake and talking,” Williams told our reporter on the scene, Alejandra Hernandez.

The man apparently fell into the bin and was unable to get out.

Crews from surrounding communities, including Kaiser, responded to the scene to assist in the rescue operations.

Williams said the man was “suspended” in the grain. To relieve pressure off the victim, rescuers began cutting the sides of the bin.

Helicopters are at the scene, ready to transport the victim to a hospital.
