Tokyo’s Den scoops Asia’s best restaurant award

Singapore, Mar 29 (EFE).- Tokyo’s Den became the first Japanese diner in nearly a decade to be named Asia’s best restaurant on Tuesday.

“Playful, innovative and always incredibly tasty, it is loved by locals as much as visitors and it is a true pioneer of contemporary Japanese cuisine,” Marcus Kwok, the host of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, compiled by the Restaurant magazine, said during the show held simultaneously in Tokyo, Bangkok and Macao.

Den, opened by chef Zaiyu Hasegawa in 2007, has been a favorite on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list since debuting at No. 37 in 2016.

Having come second last year, the Japanese restaurant finally topped this list in 2022 after beating second-place Sorn, which is based in Bangkok.

Florilège, by chef Hiroyasu Kawate came third, just ahead of Bangkok’s Le Du, which repeated last year’s fourth place. EFE
