Líderes de fe piden al gobernador que vete la ley de deportación masiva

Faith Leaders Call on Governor to Veto Mass Deportation Bill

TENNESSEE (TIRCC/LPL) — Hoy, 8 de mayo, a la 1:00 p.m., líderes religiosos se reunirán en la Plaza Legislativa en Nashville, para orar para que Tennessee siga siendo un estado acogedor a inmigrantes. Después de la reunión de oración, un pequeño contingente entregará una carta al gobernador Haslam, firmada por casi 200 líderes de fe, que lo insta a vetar HB2315. A pesar de las muchas preocupaciones morales, constitucionales y fiscales sobre la legislación, HB2315 se votó a favor en la Asamblea General de TN el 25 de abril.

TENNESSEE (TIRCC) — Today, May 8th, at 1:00pm, faith leaders will gather at Legislative Plaza in Nashville to pray that Tennessee will remain a welcoming state for immigrants. Following the prayer gathering, a small contingent will deliver a letter to Governor Haslam, signed by almost 200 faith leaders, that urges him to veto HB2315. Despite the many moral, constitutional, and fiscal concerns about the legislation, HB2315 passed the TN General Assembly on April 25th.

Calling the bill “not who we are,” the faith leaders reference their shared values and say that “as people of faith, we are called to love our neighbor, welcome the stranger, and build community. HB2315 opposes all of these values we hold so dear. We urge [Gov. Haslam] to think about the moral imperative to love our neighbor, welcome the immigrant, and care for the most vulnerable among us.”
