Verstappen boosts title chances with Hungary Grand Prix win

Budapest, Jul 31 (EFE).- Max Verstappen tightened his grip on the Formula One season with a win at the Hungarian Grand Prix Sunday.

The Red Bull driver clawed back from P10 on the grid to win at the Hungaroring ahead of Mercedes teammates Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. Russell had started the race from pole for the first time in his career.

“Very tricky conditions out there but we had a really good strategy,” Verstappen told F1 media after the race. “It was a lot of fun out there.”

Ferrari failed to make the podium, with Spaniard Carlos Sainz finishing fourth ahead of Red Bull’s Sergio Perez.

Charles Leclerc, who started the Grand Prix in P3, finished in P6 in a race hampered by tyre changes.

McLaren’s Lando Norris finished in seventh, Alpine’s Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon in eighth and ninth, while Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel completed the top 10. EFE
