Madrid, Nov 28 (EFE).- Vinicius scored his best goal ever for Real Madrid on Sunday in the 87th minute of the match against Sevilla, handing the capital squad a come-from-behind 2-1 win at Santiago Bernabeu stadium in front of 45,000 ecstatic fans.
The win puts Real Madrid four points out in front on the La Liga table in the 15th week of play.
Vinicius, just 21 years old, has been a phenomenon at Real Madrid so far this season and once again was in the right place at the right time to sink the ball just three minutes before regulation time for the team’s sixth consecutive win.
Although Rafa Mir had knocked in a header past Madrid netminder Thibaut Courtois just 12 minutes into play to put Julen Lopetegui’s visiting team – who dominated play throughout most of the first half – out in front, Karim Benzema was on hand to get the home team even in the 32nd minute after Sevilla netminder Bono made a fatal mistake in allowing Eder Militao’s shot-on-goal to get through his hands, hit the post and rebound right to Benzema.
The score remained tied at the break, and when play resumed both squads seemed to take a conservative stance, failing to secure the advantage over one another until in the final minutes Vinicius delivered a thrilling shot into the top corner of the net after powering in from the left.
The win puts Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid four points out in front of Real Sociedad and Sevilla remains in the No. 4 spot, five points behind the leaders. Real Madrid goes up against Real Sociedad next weekend.
