La continuidad es la tarea de mantener el hilo de las cosas. La raíz de un cultivo, por ejemplo, es la que permite que la planta se siga alimentando y crea una red subterránea para que se sostenga el tallo. Lo visible es el tallo, pero la continuidad de la planta depende de lo saludable, los nutrientes y el espacio que tenga esta base no siempre visible. De igual modo, la continuidad de las tradiciones es lo que mantiene la cultura viva y permite que surjan nuevos portadores de tradiciones con cada generación.
La palabra “tradición” está formada por fragmentos del idioma Latín, donde “tra-” significa transportar de un lado a otro, “dic” decir y “-ion” la característica o estado de algo. Quiere entonces decir que para que haya tradiciones debe haber la continuidad de compartirlas y de que esa actividad sea un estado constante, que no haya ruptura para que no se pierdan. En la Filantropía de Cultura, sostenemos que la herencia cultural es un aporte a la economía y a la innovación social; lo cual significa que esto de transmitir valores e ideas de forma constante será la base para darle a nuestra sociedad raíces sanas para permitir un vivir próspero.
Como filántropos de cultura con la mira en el progreso que es duradero, debemos con constancia en nuestro trabajo, estudio y aporte a la comunidad, reflejar los valores positivos de nuestra herencia. El impacto positivo se logra a través de la constancia diaria, no es asunto de hacernos celebridades famosas. Es más bien cuestión de establecer confianza y que nuestro obrar se convierta en legado para las generaciones futuras. Evitemos el egocentrismo y más bien centremos nuestros esfuerzos en pasar a otros las tradiciones que les permita hacerse parte de la red de continuidad cultural que sostendrá nuestra herencia a lo largo del tiempo.

Continuity is the practice of keeping the thread of things going. The root of a crop, for example, is the part that allows the plant to continue feeding and creates an underground network to support the stem. The visible section is the stem, but the continuity of the plant depends on the health, nutrients, and space available to this base that is not visible at first sight. In the same way, the continuity of the traditions in a culture is what keeps it alive; it allows new bearers of traditions to emerge with each generation.
The word “tradition” is formed by fragments from the Latin language, where “tra-” means to transport from one side to another, “dic” to say, and “-ion” the characteristic or state of something. This means that for there to be traditions there must be a continuity of sharing and that this activity is a constant state. To preserve it there should be no rupture. In Culture Philanthropy, we support that cultural heritage is a contribution to the economy and social innovation; therefore, transmitting our values and ideas on a constant basis will be the key to maintaining healthy roots to allow a prosperous life for our society.
As culture philanthropists, with a focus in long-lasting progress, we must consistently in our work, our studies, and contributions to the community, reflect the positive values of our heritage. A positive impact is achieved through daily constancy, it is not a matter of becoming popular or famous. Instead, it is a matter of establishing trust and making our actions part of a legacy for future generations. Let us avoid egocentricity, and instead, focus our efforts on passing on to others the traditions that will empower them to become part of that network of cultural continuity that will sustain our heritage.
