Lampard’s Everton earn crucial 1-0 victory over Chelsea

Sports Desk, May 1 (EFE).- Everton, led by coach Frank Lampard, on Sunday claimed a 1-0 victory over Chelsea that may well prove crucial in their fight to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Hosting the team he played at for more than a decade, Lampard saw Everton score one minute into the second half, when Richarlison cut the ball from Cesar Azpilicueta from the edge of the area and put it home.

The victory boosted the 18th-placed Everton’s Premier League hopes as it brought their tally to 32 points, two away from safety with one game in hand.

Chelsea, who failed to earn a win for the second game in a row, are in the third spot on the table with 66 points, five ahead of Tottenham, who boosted their Champions League hopes with a 3-1 victory over Leicester City.

Harry Kane got Tottenham on the road to victory 22 minutes into the game, with Heung Min’s second-half brace securing the win, although Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho pulled one back in the injury time.
