Ukraine strikes pro-Russian Donetsk gov’t building

Moscow, Oct 16 (EFE).- Ukrainian forces on Sunday shelled a pro-Russian administration building in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk with US-made HIMARS missiles, leaving at least two people injured.

“According to the latest reports, an enemy munition hit a car park outside the Donetsk city administration building,” mayor Alexey Kulemzin wrote on Telegram, according to TASS news agency.

As a result, the building has sustained extensive damage, Kulemzin said, who posted pictures of shattered windows.

According to Donetsk’s Territorial Defense general staff, the attack left two people wounded and several cars that were parked next to the building burned out.

“It’s a miracle no one died,” the mayor said, adding it was business as usual at the city administration building.

On Saturday, 11 Russians were killed in a shooting attack after two people had opened fire at a military training camp in the Russian city of Belgorod, near the Ukrainian border.

Fifteen others were injured, the Russian defense ministry said, calling it a terrorist attack.

“The two terrorists were annihilated with return fire,” the ministry added.

The ministry pointed out the perpetrators were citizens of one of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), an association of former Soviet states, without specifying which one.

Meanwhile, foreign ministers of the European Union are expected to green light a military training mission for 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers and a further 500 million euros for the supply of weapons to war-torn Ukraine at a summit on Monday.

The training program is expected to kick off in mid-November for two years, a local source explained.EFE
