WHO experts visit Wuhan seafood market linked to 1st Covid cases

Shanghai, China, Jan 31 (efe-epa).- A team of international experts sent by the World Health Organization to study the origins of the coronavirus in the Chinese city of Wuhan on Sunday visited the market linked to the first confirmed Covid-19 cases.
The first person confirmed to have died from the disease is thought to have contracted the virus at the Huanan market, which has been almost completely closed since the outbreak began in 2020.
The wet-market section of Huanan, where thousands of stalls once sold diverse animal products, including live and butchered wildlife such as snakes and pheasants, has been cordoned off.
Peter Daszak, a member of the WHO team, said: “Very important site visits today — a wholesale market first & Huanan Seafood Market just now. Very informative and critical for our joint teams to understand the epidemiology of COVID as it started to spread at the end of 2019.”EFE-EPA
