19 bodies found after plane crash in Russia’s Far East

Moscow, Jul 7 (EFE).- Nineteen bodies have been found from the AN-26 passenger plane that crashed with 28 people on board in Russia’s Far East.

A spokesman from the Russian ministry of emergency situations told local media that one of the victims had been identified.

Bad weather conditions are hampering the efforts of search and rescue workers, according to the source.

The twin-engine turboprop aircraft had taken off from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy in Kamchatka and was bound for Palana.

Regional authorities have organized search and rescue teams to locate the aircraft, which had been in operation since 1982 and whose license was due to expire on August 30.

Among the 28 people aboard were six crew members and two children.EFE
