Young stars join stalwarts in Spain’s World Cup squad

Madrid, Nov 11 (EFE).- Rising stars Pedri, Gavi, Ansu Fati and Nico Williams will feature in their first World Cup in Qatar as Spain’s national team was named Friday.

Head coach Luis Enrique also called up 22-year-old Valencia defender Hugo Guillamón.

The youngsters will join some of Spain’s more experienced international players for the Qatar World Cup, including Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal and Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

Sergio Ramos was left out of the squad.

Enrique’s 26-man squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Unai Simón (Athletic Bilbao), Roberto Sánchez (Brighton and Hove Albion) and David Raya (Brentford)

Defenders: Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid), César Azpilicueta (Chelsea) Eric García (Barcelona), Guillamón (Valencia), Pau Torres (Villarreal), Aymeric Laporte (Manchester City), Jordi Alba (Barcelona) and José Gayá (Valencia)

Midfielders: Sergio Busquets (Barcelona), Rodrigo (Manchester City), Gavi (Barcelona), Carlos Soler (Paris Saint-Germain), Marcos Llorente (Atletico Madrid), Pedri (Barcelona) and Koke (Atletico Madrid)

Forwards: Ferran Torres (Barcelona), Nico Williams (Athletic Bilbao), Yeremy Pino (Villarreal), Álvaro Morata (Atletico Madrid), Marco Asensio (Real Madrid), Pablo Sarabia (PSG), Dani Olmo (RB Leipzig) and Ansu Fati (Barcelona).EFE
