PSG part ways with coach Pochettino

Paris, Jul 5 (EFE).- Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday announced that Mauricio Pochettino has left the club after nearly a year-and-a-half at the Parc des Princes.

“Paris Saint-Germain confirm that Mauricio Pochettino has ended his role at the Club,” PSG wrote on Twitter.

The Argentine took the helm of the PSG in January 2021, two years after leaving Tottenham Hotspur.

He led the French club to win three titles: the Ligue 1, the French Cup and the French Super Cup.

But he was unable to steer a star-studded team featuring the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi to Champions League glory, getting knocked out by eventual winners Real Madrid in the last 16 last season and falling to Manchester City in the semifinal a year earlier.

PSG are expected to announce the appointment of their new coach at a press conference to be held later in the day at Parc des Princes.

Former Nice manager Christophe Galtier is widely expected to replace Pochettino. EFE
