6 Palestinians killed in West Bank clashes with Israeli forces

Jerusalem, Dec 8 (EFE).- At least six Palestinians, including a minor, were killed on Friday in the al-Faraa refugee camp in the occupied West Bank during clashes with Israeli forces, according to health authorities.

The dead were aged between 14 and 36, the health ministry of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) said.

The official Wafa news agency reported the Palestinian Red Crescent treated six people with gunshot wounds during the clashes.

The scene witnessed “intense shooting,” and explosions were heard, according to Wafa.

The occupied West Bank is currently experiencing its deadliest surge in violence since the Second Intifada (2000-05).

In 2023, the death toll has already reached 479 Palestinians, marking the highest figure in over 20 years.

Most fatalities occurred in armed clashes with Israeli troops, with a significant number being civilians and over 100 minors.

The situation escalated following Israel’s war in Gaza that commenced on Oct. 7.

Since then, 265 Palestinians in the West Bank, including more than 66 minors, have lost their lives in violent incidents, with nine killed in settler attacks.

The region has witnessed a notable rise in Palestinian-initiated attacks, conducted by both new local armed militants and individual Palestinians.

This has resulted in 41 deaths, mainly among Israeli settlers, including five minors, and seven uniformed personnel.

Since the outbreak of the Gaza war on Oct. 7, Israel has increased its military interventions in the West Bank, detaining over 3,500 Palestinians, according to sources from Palestinian groups. EFE
