Zidane sings Pellegrini’s praises ahead of Madrid-Betis
Madrid, Sep 25 (efe-epa).- Real Madrid’s head coach Zinedine Zidane on Friday sang the praises of Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini ahead of their LaLiga clash tomorrow evening.
In his pre-match press conference Zidane spoke of Pellegrini’s “experience” and “quality” and said the Chilean was the reason the Seville-based team had appeared to have turned its fortunes around so far this season.
Pellegrini joined Betis in July.
“He has almost exactly the same players (as last season),” the French coach said.
“Everyone knows Pellegrini, a manager with experience which he is able to give to his team.”
Real Betis have kicked off their 2020/21 LaLiga campaign with back-to-back wins against Alaves (0-1) and Real Valladolid (2-0). Real Madrid on the other hand were held to a 0-0 draw against Real Sociedad last week.
In their last encounter before the coronavirus lockdown last season Real Betis were able to earn a shock win against Real Madrid.
“We know who we are up against,” Zidane said. “It’s one of the league’s good teams and they’ve started well,” he added.
“We want to play well, improve on what we did in San Sebastián,” Zidane continued.
The manager did not agree, however, that Madrid lacked in the goal-scoring department.
