Dembélé staying at Barça, says Laporta

Sports Desk, Jul 13 (EFE).- Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta on Wednesday confirmed that Ousmane Dembélé will stay at Camp Nou.

The French forward initially refused to extend his Barcelona contract that expired this summer, but he agreed to sign a new deal that reportedly includes a 40% salary cut.

Talking to media ahead of Barcelona’s first preseason match, Laporta said: “This week we will present Dembélé and Raphinha.”

Earlier in the day, Barcelona announced they had reached an agreement “in principle” for the transfer of Brazilian winger Raphinha, but the club has yet to reveal details on the Frenchman’s future.

The 25-year-old joined Barcelona in 2017 on a five-year contract from Borussia Dortmund for 105 million euros.

Although injuries marred his first five seasons at the Catalan club, Dembélé shone under coach Xavi and became a key part of the starting lineup during the last campaign. EFE
