France, Britain, USA, Germany make changes ahead of Team Jumping competition

Tokyo, Aug 5 (EFE).- A total of 19 teams are to participate on Friday in the Tokyo 2020 Team Jumping competition with favorites France, Great Britain, the United States and Germany all having changed the make-up of their teams.

All the horses presented on the second day of inspection have been accepted and everything is ready for a competition that promises to be as exciting as the individual test that was won by Briton Ben Maher won with Explosion W .

His team, which will try to recover the gold lost in Rio de Janeiro, made a change Thursday for the following day’s competition.

Scott Brash will not compete. His horse was retired and Holly Smith takes his place with Denver. Harry Charles rounds out the squad with Romeo’88.

For defending champions France, Mathieu Billot is out and Simon Delestre enters with Berlux Z, who will be accompanied by Penelope Leprevost with Vancouver de Lanlore and Nicolas Delmotte with Urvoso du Roch.

Germany, bronze at the last Games, has also changed the starting team. Christian Kukuk will not participate, and Maurice Tebbel will do so with Dion Diarado, who will have Andre Thieme with DSP Chakaria and Daniel Deusser with Killer Queen as partners.

For The United States, the current Olympic runner-up, Kent Farrington is out and McLain Ward enters the fray with Contagious to compete with Laura Kraut on Baloutinue and Jessica Springsteen, the daughter of musician Bruce Springsteen, riding Don Juan van de Donkhoeve.

The Czech Republic has been pegged to open the competition and the Netherlands will be the last to leave.

The top ten will qualify for the final, which is to be held on Saturday. EFE.
