Isco bids farewell to Real Madrid
Madrid, May 30 (EFE).- Isco Alarcon on Monday bid farewell to Real Madrid as his contract with the Spanish powerhouse expires in a month.
The Spanish attacking midfielder joined Real Madrid in 2013 on a transfer from Malaga, a moment he recalled in the farewell letter he published on social media.
“When I was at Malaga and I knew I had to leave, I made a commitment to another team,” he wrote.
“But Real Madrid knocked on my door and Real Madrid cannot and should not be told no, although there are always exceptions,” he wrote next to a tortoise icon, referring to Kylian Mbappé.
Over his nearly a decade-spell, Isco won 19 titles, including an eyebrow-raising five Champions League titles.
His maiden Champions League with Real Madrid came in 2014, which ended the club’s 12-year continental draught. Los Blancos’ win on Saturday night brought the count to a record 14.
“I remember telling my people that Madrid haven’t won the Champions League for many years and I have a feeling it’s about to fall and the tenth arrived,” he said.
“Everything that comes after is history. Nine years later, my stage at the club that has made may fulfill all the dreams I had when I was little.
“I want to thank my teammates, coaches, coaching staff, physios, kit men, and workers at Valdebebas and Santiago Bernabéu for all the work, love and support that everyone needs and that I have never lacked.
“I also want to thank the fans who welcomed me in an incredible way from day one and who accompany this team in every corner of the world,” he added. EFE
