Dior plays with black and white in PFW show

Paris, Sep 27 (EFE).- The house of Dior turned theatrical on the runway in Paris on Tuesday, where they presented their 2023 spring-summer collection with a colors palette limited to black and white and classic neutrals but full of textures and volume.

The crowded show was attended by celebrities such as actresses Rosamund Pike and Maggie Gyllenhaal, 90s top-models Elle Macpherson and Cindy Crawford, ‘it girl’ Olivia Palermo, and Korean pop-stars Cha Eun-woo and Jisoo.

The show was presented in the Tuileries Garden in the center of the French capital where the luxury fashion house recreated what seemed to be a Buddhist temple sculpted on a mountain.

Dior’s creative director, Italian designer Maria Grazia Chiuri, created shapes with visible boning and played with undergarments adding patchwork of antique looking lace and hand-embroidery to sports-looking clothes. A true spring collection with light fabrics.

Work-like overalls, cotton shirts turned into maxi dresses and wide jeans were mixed with loose shirts, tight corsets underneath and pleated skirts.

The runway started with a contemporary dance performance that continued throughout the show mixed with loud and disturbing music.

The firm, which surprised their audience in June with a runway at Sevilla’s Plaza de España inspired by Flamenco aesthetics, repeated the baroque style in this latest show.

Gothic inspiration was also seen in the models’ makeup design, led by beauty director Peter Phillips; two strong lines outlined their eyes with a fish-like shape.EFE
