8 injured in gunpowder factory blast in southern France

Paris, Aug 3 (EFE).- At least eight people were injured, including one seriously, after explosions rocked a gunpowder factory in Bergerac in southwestern France on Wednesday.

“Several explosions” occurred at the Eurenco gunpowder factory, triggering a fire that has been brought “under control,” the Prefecture of the Dordogne said.

The causes of the explosions at the factory, where some 40 people are employed, were unknown.

The factory has been completely evacuated and cordoned off by 61 firefighters with 32 trucks, 20 police officers and two helicopters, officials said. EFE
