Cristiano to miss Liverpool’s game after his son’s death

London, Apr 19 (EFE).- Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Manchester United’s Premier League game against Liverpool after one of his newborn twins died, the club announced on Tuesday.

“Family is more important than everything and Ronaldo is supporting his loved ones at this immensely difficult time,” the Red Devils said in a statement.

“As such, we can confirm that he will not feature in the match against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday evening and we underline the family’s request for privacy,” it added.

“Cristiano, we are all thinking of you and sending strength to the family,” the statement continued.

The Portuguese star and his partner Georgina Rodriguez announced last night that their newborn son had died, while his twin sister survived.

“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away,” they said in a statement on social media.

“It is the greatest pain that any parent can feel.

“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness,” it read.

The 36-year-old striker is father to Cristiano Junior, twins Eva and Mateo and Alana Martina, daughter of Georgina Rodríguez, 27. EFE
