Fans of Madrid, Liverpool warm up in Paris’ streets

Paris, May 28 (EFE).- A cheerful atmosphere reigned in Paris on Saturday among fans of Real Madrid and Liverpool hours before the Champions League final gets underway.

In the Place de la Bastille, a fan of the English club wishes luck to a group of Spaniards dressed in their team’s jerseys: “Good Luck!”, they cross paths, clapping hands.

Liverpool are aiming for their seventh Champions League title while Real Madrid are chasing their record-extending 14th trophy.

“The finals are always a lottery, but we trust our team. We hope to win, take the fourteenth,” says Antonio, who has traveled to Paris by plane with his son and his friends.

The group has attended the last four Champions League finals in Lisbon, Milan, Cardiff and Kyiv, and are now in Paris, where they have brought a new fan: Aitor, nine years old.

“Madrid is going to win. Benzema will score three and Vinícius one,” the boy says.

Tim, meanwhile, arrived in Paris after a 12-hour road trip from southern Wales to cheer for Liverpool at one of the French capital’s fan zones as he does not have a ticket.

Steven, who like Tim will support Liverpool at the fan zone, predicts that Mohamed Salah will lead the Reds to a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid.

UEFA has set up a Liverpool’s Fan Zone in eastern Paris that accommodates up to 44,000 people. Real Madrid have one of their own to the north of the Stade de France, located in Paris outskirts’ Saint-Denis. EFE
