Fornals rejuvenates West Ham in 1-0 road win over Aston Villa

Sports Desk, Aug 28 (EFE).- A goal by Spain’s Pablo Fornals gave West Ham a 1-0 away victory at Aston Villa, thus securing its first ranking points of the season and pulling the team out of last place on the Premier League table after four long weeks in the basement.

The Hammers had lost their previous three matches to Manchester City, Nottingham Forest and Brighton.

Steven Gerrard’s squad thought they had gotten themselves on the board early on, when in the 14th minute Ezri Konsa’s goal was disallowed after Lucas Digne’s corner kick had gone out of play.

At the 60-minute mark, Fornals got the ball from team captain Declan Rice, dribbled it up a few meters and then, from distance, fired a shot that was deflected by Konsa, but vaulted over netminder Emiliano Martinez for the 1-0.

Although Aston Villa tried to make a quick comeback, with Cash knocking a curling shot over the net, but that was all there was time for and the road win put David Moyes boys even with Villa at three points on the table after four matches.
