Isak shines as Sweden top Slovakia 1-0

St. Petersburg, Russia, Jun 18 (EFE).- A top second half performance by Alexander Isak helped Sweden finally break through Slovakia’s swamped defense, although the Scandinavians had to rely on Emil Forsberg’s penalty 15 minutes before full-time to edge the game 1-0.

The Real Sociedad forward proved himself a nightmare for Slovakia’s defense as he came to life following a turgid first half in which both teams appeared frozen by the possibility of losing.

With four points in Group E, the Swedes have one foot in the last-16 but for Slovakia it will go down to the wire in the last group game against Spain, who host Poland on Saturday.EFE
