Driver Who Killed Woman After Speeding Through Red Light Charged With Homicide, Police Say

MEMPHIS, TN (FOX 13 News) — The man police said sped through a red light, crashing into a woman and killing her, has been arrested months after the deadly crash, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).
DeAndrea Clark, 37, was arrested about two months after a crash at the intersection of Kirby Parkway and Highway 385 killed Sarah Hamer.
Clark was driving westbound on Highway 385 when he exited the ramp in a green 2013 Ford Explorer, sped through a red light at 85 mph and crashed into Hamer’s 2009 Pontiac G-5, Memphis Police claim in Clark’s arrest affidavit.
Police said that Clark left the crashed Explorer at the scene and ran off.
Hamer was rushed to Regional One Health in critical condition but died from her injuries, according to police.
MPD said that Clark’s fingerprints were found on a cell phone in the Explorer’s driver seat and that a witness to the crash identified Clark at the driver responsible for the deadly crash.
The arrest came just a month after FOX13’s report on Hamer’s death.
“You did this,” Hamer’s sister Evelyn Richardson told. “Nobody made you speed and run the red light. You did that. My baby was on her way home to her husband. He don’t know what he took from us.”
Clark was charged with vehicular homicide – reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident involving death, driving while license suspended, failure to exercise due care, violation of financial law and duty to give information and render aid.

Clark fue acusado de homicidio vehicular: conducir imprudentemente, abandonar la escena de un accidente con muerte, conducir con la licencia suspendida, no ejercer el debido cuidado, violación de la ley financiera y el deber de dar información y prestar ayuda.
