Doha, Nov 23 (EFE).- Luka Modric’s Croatia, World Cup runners up four years ago, were held to a goalless draw by Morocco in their opening Group F match on Wednesday.
Former Ballon d’Or winner Modric was one of four players who featured in the defeat to France in Russia in 2018 to start against the North Africans at the Al Bayt stadium in Al Khor.
The Croats dominated possession, as expected, but failed to turn that advantage into many clear cut chances against a disciplined Morocco side.
Their best opening came in the first half after Nikola Vlasic’s poked shot from close range was saved by Yassine Bounou. EFE
