Barcelona, Oct 14 (EFE).- FC Barcelona have announced that young Spanish player Pedro González ‘Pedri’ has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him at the club for the next five years.
The contract, which runs until June 30, 2026, includes a termination clause set at 1 billion euros.
Pedri, who was born in 2002 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and joined Barcelona from Unión Deportiva Las Palmas, was recently chosen as one of the 30 finalists for the Ballon d’Or.
Last season, the Canary Islander burst onto the scene in a campaign that culminated with his starring roles in the European Championship and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Pedri committing his long-term future is a welcome piece of good news for the debt-saddled club, which was forced to sell a host of first-team stars over the summer, including former captain Lionel Messi. EFE
