French film star Jean-Paul Belmondo dies at 88

Paris, Sep 6 (EFE).- The actor Jean-Paul Belmondo, a French cinema icon, died Monday at 88 years old in Paris, according to French media.

Breathless (1966), Ace of Aces (1982), and The Man from Rio (1964) are some of the highly praised movies Belmondo starred in.

His death was confirmed to AFP by his friend and lawyer Michel Godest.

The French actor, of Italian descent, started his career with an affinity for Nouvelle Vague cinema, like that of director Jean-Luc Godard in Breathless, but later turned to action films and comedy. EFE
