Summer travel chaos averted as Paris airport workers end strike

Paris, Jul 8 (EFE).- Airport workers in the Paris region on Friday agreed to end a strike that would have severely affected air travel and caused dozens of flights to be grounded on the first weekend of the summer holidays.

The striking workers, led by the CGT labor union, reached an agreement on a 3% pay rise and compensation for some 1,800 employees of the Groupe aéroports de Paris (Paris Airport Group – ADP) whose salaries were below the reference level of 2019, according to the CGT.

On Thursday evening, firefighters who were also on strike lifted their own planned action thanks to an agreement between ADP and the union.

The firefighters’ strike, which began on June 30, had forced France’s civil aviation authority to cancel hundreds of flights at Roissy airport last week for security reasons.
