Nurse Shot to Death After Robbery, Carjacking At Senior Living Facility In Raleigh, Police Say

MEMPHIS, TN (FOX 13 News) — A nurse died following a robbery and carjacking at a Raleigh senior living facility.
Memphis Police (MPD) are identifying the victim as a woman, confirming she was shot. Police also confirmed the shooting was the result of a carjacking.
FOX13 spoke with people who have loved ones who live at the facility.
“It’s horrible. I can’t imagine anybody wanting to take somebody over a car,” said Shannon Fuller, whose mom lives at the senior community.
MPD told FOX13 that the woman shot to death was a nurse. The incident happened at the Wesley Stage Park Senior Living Facility in Raleigh.
“I ran into a resident last night that told me that they tried to carjack the lady,” said Fuller.
MPD reported answering the call early Friday morning at 2:15 a.m.
Officers were called to the 2700 block of Battle Creek Drive regarding the shooting.
According to MPD, when they located the woman on the scene, she had already died.
“I can’t fathom it,” Fuller said.
“They need to have cameras,” a person visiting a friend at the facility over the weekend told FOX13. “It’s horrible, but I mean, it’s just going to get worse because that’s what’s happening in society right now.”
Meanwhile, Fuller said her mom has been living in the facility at least 5 years and she visits often: “It’s scary. I mean she doesn’t get out much, but it’s scary. I’m kind of worried, but I don’t know that she’s coming back here, so that’s a positive.”
Police told FOX13 the victim’s family has been notified.
According to MPD, the victim’s car was recovered Friday night. There’s no suspect information at this time.
FOX13 tried to get a response from the Wesley Stage Park Senior Living Facility, but its offices were closed Saturday.
Police are asking anyone with information about the deadly shooting that happened at the senior community to call 901-528-CASH.

“Necesitan tener cámaras”, dijo al noticiario FOX13 una persona que visitó a un amigo en las instalaciones durante el fin de semana. “Es horrible, pero quiero decir que va a empeorar porque eso es lo que está sucediendo en la sociedad en este momento”.
Mientras tanto, Fuller dijo que su madre ha estado viviendo en las instalaciones durante al menos cinco años y las visita con frecuencia: “Da miedo. Quiero decir que no sale mucho, pero da miedo. Estoy un poco preocupada, pero no sé si ella volverá aquí, eso es seguro”.
La policía le dijo al noticiario FOX13 que la familia de la víctima fue notificada.
Según MPD, el auto de la víctima fue recuperado el viernes por la noche. No hay información del sospechoso en este momento.
El noticiario FOX13 intentó obtener una respuesta del centro de residencia para personas mayores de Wesley Stage Park, pero sus oficinas estaban cerradas el sábado.
La policía está pidiendo a cualquier persona que tenga información sobre el tiroteo mortal que ocurrió en la comunidad de personas mayores que llame al 901-528-CASH.
