Blackpink to release new album ahead of world tour

Seoul, Jul 6 (EFE).- Popular K-pop band Blackpink will release a new studio album in August ahead of its long-awaited world tour that will kick off at the end of the year, their agency announced Wednesday.

It will be the first album of the quartet, comprising Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa, since they released their first full-length album titled “The Album” in October 2020.

“BLACKPINK is now at the final stage of recording its new album. They will embark on the filming of a music video within this month and release new songs in August,” YG Entertainment said in a statement.

The agency added that the upcoming album will kick off “a continuous large-scale project which will extend through the second half of the year.”

In addition, the group will also embark on the “largest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group” by the end of the year.

Jennie and Rosé had already announced that the band was recording new music and preparing for a world tour by the end of 2022.

Last year, Rosé’s solo song “R,” which was released in March, and Lisa, who released “Lalisa” in September, were both highly successful.

Blackpink is the most subscribed artist globally on YouTube with over 75 million subscribers. EFE
