Power outages hit liberated Kherson amid relentless Russian shelling

Lviv, Ukraine, Dec 1 (EFE).- Electricity outages on Thursday struck Kherson in the aftermath of Russia’s relentless shelling of the Ukrainian southern port city, which was liberated just three weeks ago.

“As a result of Russian forces’ constant shelling of Ukraine’s southern city of Kherson, the voltage in the city’s power grids has disappeared,” Kherson governor Yaroslav Yanushevych wrote on Telegram.

Khersonoblenergo, a local energy company, is currently working to fix the issue, according to Yanushevych.

On November 11, the Ukrainian government announced that its forces had recaptured Kherson, a key city located on the Black Sea and the Dnieper River that was annexed by Russia in September, along with Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Donetsk. EFE
